It has been widely reported in the media that GCSEs in England were subject to a ‘hard reset’ in marking standards this year and we are delighted to report that, despite this, 2023’s results compare very favourably with the 2019 benchmark.

Almost half of the grades awarded were 8s or 9s, in subjects across the curriculum, reaffirming QEH’s dedication to fostering well-rounded individuals. Ten pupils were overjoyed to see all their results as this exceptional level.

Rupert Heathcote, Head of QEH, praised the pupils’ work ethic, saying,

“We are tremendously proud of our pupils’ excellent GCSE results. They have demonstrated dedication and resilience throughout their studies, and these achievements are a testament to their abilities and the support of our staff and parents. Year 11 has been a busy year group and the pupils have still found time to be involved in a wide variety of co-curricular activities whilst keeping on top of their studies. We look forward to welcoming them to Sixth Form in September.”

Mr Heathcote expressed his gratitude to the staff at QEH, whose expertise and tireless efforts have developed a love of learning in these young people. He emphasised, “Our passionate and dedicated teaching staff have played an instrumental role in inspiring and supporting our pupils throughout their academic journey. Their commitment to excellence and the holistic development of our pupils is truly outstanding.”

QEH, well known for its nurturing environment as well as high academic standards, has once again demonstrated its commitment to providing a first-class, all-round education. The dedication and determination of its pupils, coupled with expert teaching, has culminated in success across the curriculum.

Pupils have led the way in recognising differences within the school, by setting up groups for those of particular faith or for gender differences and they are very supportive of each other.
